Thursday's Wedding Tip # 37

Happy Thursday. Today's wedding tip is about wedding locations.

While every bride has a different idea of how their wedding venue will look, there are a handful of things all brides will agree with.

1) You want to be the ONLY Bride at your wedding. This may seem obvious, but if you plan to get married at a big hotel or wedding hall, there could very well be many weddings going on at the same time and do you really want to run into another bride on your wedding day. I don't think so.

2) You don't want wedding crashers. Well, maybe if it was Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, but other than that probably not. The best way to avoid this is making sure your wedding location has signs and security. Yep, security. Not the security you are probably thinking, but someone who is overseeing your wedding and making sure no uninvited guests happen to find their way into your hall.

3) You do not want to share your wedding with Prom. Yep, this happens A LOT. I have heard many stories. If you are planning to get married during April/May/June (which I did), make sure it is in your contract that no other major events are allowed to be scheduled your day/night.

The best ways to avoid the above would be:

1) Get married at a smaller location, where they only host 1 event at a time

2) Have your contract state they are not allowed to book another event within x hours of your wedding. Possibly if your wedding is during the day, say noon, then they can not have another function until yours is over, say 5pm.

3) Getting married at a temple/church usually avoids this issue, as they only have one ceremony/reception at a time.
