Wedding Poem

Are you still searching for a beautiful reading or poem for your wedding. I found a few great ones lately and thought I would share my favorite.

The most frequently recited wedding poem and one of the greatest odes to matrimony is "The Art of Marriage" by Wiferd A. Peterson. The memorable simplicity of its language makes this poem a touchstone for all couples, both at the start of a relationship and after the blessing of a lifetime in love. The poem is accompanied by inspiring illustrations, making it a wonderful gift for wedding day guests.

The Art of Marriage

Wilferd A. Peterson

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.

A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things...

It is never being too old to hold hands.

It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.

It is never going to sleep angry.

It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.

It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.

It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude
of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.

It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.

It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.

It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.

It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best.

I hope you all had a great Holiday Weekend with friends and family..Enjoy!

Lifetime Movies

So, if you're anything like me you have been spending your nights in front of the tv watching Lifetime Movies. I catch them all, even though the concept is very similar in each movie. I still love the happy endings and this year the movies have been better than ever.

Tonight's movie is :Secret Santa at 7pm with Jennie Garth- o, I just love her.

From Lifetime, here is a summary: Reporter Rebecca Chandler (Jennie Garth) is expecting a marriage proposal from her boyfriend but instead gets dumped right before Christmas. Bitter and cynical, she heads to the small town of Hamden to uncover the identity of the mysterious man who is responsible for several good deeds. She immediately suspects the local millionaire (Steven Eckholdt) but as her investigation continues, she not only discovers the "Secret Santa" but the true gift of giving.

I already saw this movie last week- but I thought it was worth mentioning since I really liked it and you will be very surprised by the ending. Enjoy!

A sad day for Hollywood

I just found out Brittany Murphy died. She died this morning at her home in Los Angeles. I used to love "Clueless" growing up. This was the film she got her big start from. She also appeared in "8 mile". She was only 32 years old. What a sad day in Hollywood. Murphy was once linked to Ashton Kutcher. She was a wonderful actress and will be missed. Get more info here.

Thursday's Wedding Tip #27

Happy Wedding Tip Day- At least tomorrow is FRIDAY and one more week til Christmas.

Wedding Tip #27- Engagement pictures are a great beginning to your wedding planning. It is best to hire your wedding photographer first and then have him/her do your photo shoot. It is a great way to get to know your photographer and let them get to know you.

I love getting my picture taken, so my photographer knew from our engagement shoot what he was in for. I love being in front of the camera. My husband is not so photogenic.

Here is a list of some great places to have your engagement shoot:
-Where you met
-Where you had your first date
-Your hometowns
-The college where you met (we didn't go up to Gainesville for ours, but I wish we did)
-A Movie Theater
-Inside/Around Vintage Cars
-A local park
- Country Club (waterfalls and rocks are great backgrounds)

Communication with your photographer is key. They will be working very closely with you both throughout your wedding process- so let them know what you like and don't like.

Next week I'll give you some great ideas what to do once you get your engagement pictures back. Enjoy!

Best Meat Deal of 2009

Well 2009 is coming to an end, and it has been a WONDERFUL Year. For me, 2009 will always be remembered as the year I got married =)

Another great thing about 2009 is the Meat Deal I scored at Publix today. I LOVE Publix meat, and have found some great deals as much as 50% off. Well, I picked up the Albertson's weekly ad as I heard there were great coupons inside on meat(Thanks Paula)!

There are THREE coupons: All are for Meat Deals, Buy One GET TWO FREE. Yep, Not One But TWO Packages FREE (Lower weight items FREE)

The coupons are for: Pork Steak, St. Louis Style Ribs and Boneless Pork Tenderloin.

I took this ad to Publix and spoke with a manager(since I didn't want to carry all the meat up front and have a problem at checkout). The manager said he would accept the coupons as long as it was for the same item. Publix had the Pork Steak and Boneless Pork Tenderloin, but not the St. Louis Style Ribs. So I got 3 packages of Pork Steak and 3 packages of Boneless Pork Tenderloin. The best part was the meats were on Advantage Buy Special already. The Pork Steak was on sale $1.99lb and the Pork Tenderloin was $4.99lb.

I made sure to get packages of equal weight, as I knew I had to pay for the most expensive weight.

I ended up paying $2.83 for 3 packages of Pork Steak and $12.48 for 3 packages of Pork Tenderloin = $15.31. I have been smiling ever since I got home. I can't think of a time I got a better deal on Meat...Have you?

The Albertson's ad is good through 12/15. So if you have a store near by, I would suggest heading in to stock up. I asked the meat manager how long meat lasts in the freezer- he said if you have a good freezer, at least 2 years. WOW- I actually could have bought more(j/k- I'll save the rest of the meat for all of you). My husband was VERY Impressed when I came home with my stack of meat. He can't wait to grill it up. We kept out a package of each and froze the other 2. I'll let you know how they grill up later in the week..Enjoy!

Happy 1 Year Blogaversary

Remember to enter my 3 Gift Card Giveaway- it ends tonight.

I have another great giveaway for all of my wonderful readers- check back later tonight. Enjoy!

Thursday's Wedding Tip #26

Happy Thursday and Happy Wedding Tip Day.

Wedding tip #26-Wedding Ring Shopping Tips

The Holidays are here and I am sure you have been hearing about more and more couples getting engaged =) . December is probably the most popular month for proposals. Over a 100 million diamonds are sold each year in the U.S. , but yet most people know very little about what differentiates one ring from another.

Do you know why some rings are very affordable and massive, and yet other rings are so tiny but cost so much?It all has to do with the 4 C's. Do you know the 4 C's of Diamonds?

Cut, Clarity, Color and Carat Weight

Cut is probably the most important, but the hardest to understand. The cut is based on the original shape of the rough stone. The cut of a diamond is different from the shape. Shape only refers to the outward appearance of the diamond and not how it is faceted. To keep it simple: The more light that enters and returns from the diamond the better the cut. Bling Bling!

Clarity-Of course you want to look into your ring and not see flaws. Almost all diamonds have flaws, but some have more that others. These inclusions occur during the formation process. The number and size of these inclusions determine the clarity. The fewer the flaws, the more expensive the price.

Color-Colorless diamonds are the most desirable since they allow the most refraction of light. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has devised a set of guidelines to grade diamond color. Here is a chart to help you:

D-E-F (Most expensive)
Colorless.

G-H-I-J

Carat- This refers to the unit of weight a diamond is measured. This is the easiest to understand. Most diamonds are small- so the bigger the better(and more expensive). You can buy small diamonds at a very reasonable price these days- think of little diamonds in your necklaces or earrings- you can have a gorgeous bracelet full of small diamonds and you won't pay a fortune. Once you put one BIG diamond in the piece- the price sky rockets. Same as with an engagement ring.

Did you read the latest Star magazine yet(December 14th edition)? Well there is a picture of Jennifer Garner's new 7 carat ring from hubby Ben Affleck. Get more info on her new ring here. WOW- I hope Ben knows all about the 4 C's!

I would suggest going with your soon to be fiancee and looking at rings together to get an idea of what you like and to learn more about diamonds. As always, it is important to buy from a reputable jeweler that you trust and can answer all your questions. It is best to compare many diamonds so you can see the value. I can go on and on about Diamonds- but I hope this helps..Enjoy!
