Thursday's Wedding Tip #15

Happy Thursday..

Did you miss last week's Wedding Tip- check it out here.

This weeks wedding tip #15- Wedding Dress Code. How should you write the dress code on your invitation. Many brides don't realize how important this is.

The most common you see on invitations is:

Black Tie- This means Tuxedos for men and long gowns for women (Best for Saturday Night Weddings or Sunday after 5pm)

Black Tie Optional- You can wear Black Tie or a Dark Suit with tie for men and a gown(long or short) for women

Semi-Formal and Cocktail Attire are one in the same- Dark Suit with tie for men and a gown(long or short) for women. I tend to wear short black dresses for this type of wedding.

Casual and Informal Weddings- Khakis for guys and skirts or nice pants for women.

Think of how you want your guests to dress at your wedding, as it sets the mood for the whole day. My fiance and I decided on Black tie for our wedding and I am so happy we did. Most people did dress appropriate, but some still went for the Black-tie Optional Dress code. It is better to list one level higher on your invitations for the dress code to prevent guests coming too casual. I would love to hear your thoughts..Enjoy!

  2. Agree- love your tips. I am having a summer wedding next year and am planning to let guest know cocktail attire. I hope everyone comes dressed correctly!

  3. I agree with your Black Tie reasoning. I would choose it too- it makes the wedding more classy.

  4. Do I have to put a dress code on my invitation or just let people know by word of mouth?
