Planning the wedding is overwhelming enough, but you need to start thinking about where you want to go on your honeymoon.
I have had many friends get married and I love hearing all their honeymoon stories and advice.
- If your adventurous- I would suggest Africa or Costa Rica
- For culture and some great food- I hear Italy is beautiful
- For a romantic ski trip- head over to Colorado. (My fiance wants to go- but since we are having a summer wedding, this does not work so well)
- For beautiful beaches- check out Hawaii
- If you want some fun and to stay in the states- I would suggest Las Vegas
- And the most affordable would be Mexico
You and your Fiance need to be on the same page when planning the honeymoon. You need to discuss your budget, your dream location, and of course pick a place with great food!
Traditionally the groom ( or grooms parent's) would pay for the honeymoon. This day more and more bride and grooms pay for the honeymoon themselves. You need to find an amount your are comfortable with and stick to it. If you have your heart set on a special place, but it is very pricey, maybe only stay at that hotel a night or two and a more reasonable hotel the other nights.
On that note- discussing how long of a honeymoon you would like ( or can afford to take) is also important. Do you want to leave for your honeymoon following your reception, a few days later or even a few months later?
Most honeymoons last a week- but that is also based on your budget.
Always make sure there are many activities you can do during the day. Here are a few to consider: Boating, snorkeling, spa treatments, fishing, hiking, jogging, kayaking, golf, scuba diving, skiing, shopping, tennis and sight seeing.
If you want to make your money go further these days, an all-inclusive resort or a cruise is your best bet.
Check out
Sandals for some great all-inclusive deals. Their website has 60% off specials sometimes and I signed up for emails and always hear about the best deals.
Now to my favorite choice- A cruise!! You can get a great 7-14 day cruise at a very affordable rate depending on where you are traveling from. As I am in Florida- the port of Miami and Fort Lauderdale are only an hour or two away. If you have never cruised before I would not suggest it for a honeymoon. You are better off taking a short weekend cruise to make sure you do not get sea sick!! (I have heard some stories- so a test cruise is always ideal).
