Thursday's Wedding Tip #21

Happy Thursday and I wanted to continue wedding tip # 21 on Tipping. If you missed last week's wedding tip- check it out here.

There are some wedding vendors who you will be expected to tip and there are others who while not expecting a tip would greatly appreciate it. Below are some tipping guidelines which suggest amounts each service provider should be tipped according to wedding etiquette:

Hairstylist, Makeup Artist, Beautician - You should expect to tip these service providers just as you would on a normal visit to a salon. Usually between 15-20%.

Transportation Drivers - Usually a tip is included in your contract (read the fine print), but if not 10-15% would be normal.

Valets - Tips are based by per person or per car. The Country Club we used, had us pay $1 per person. We did not want our guest to tip, and the valets were told not to accept tips( I am sure they still did if a guest gave them, but it is customary for the host to pay).

Band- It is customary to tip $15-$20 per band member. You can give this to the main band leader at the end of the night.

Florists and other delivery services(i.e Cake bakery)- An extra tip is not necessary as there is usually a service fee built in to the price.

Wait Staff (All your servers)- Their tip is usually in your contract price already. I would be shocked if it wasn't already included, usually 20%.

Bartenders - This is usually part of the contract as well, with the wait staff.

Wedding Planner - In my opinion, you really do not need to hire a wedding planner, not to mention their fees are CRAZY Expensive. They usually get anywhere from 10-15% of your total cost.

It is best to assign a member of your family to be the one to handle tips at the end of the night. Set up your tip envelopes prior to the wedding and label them so it is easy to give out that night. Enjoy!

Boston Market $1 Real Chicken Meal

Tonight I went with my husband for $1 Real Chicken Meals at Boston Market. You can get either a Quarter Chicken White Meat or a 3- Piece Dark Meat served with Mashed Potatoes and a Cornbread for ONLY $1. Yes- this has to be the best deal out there for the Money. It cost us $2, plus we shared a Drink for $1.79...Our total was $4.02 and we both ate..You should have your coupon in your email if you signed up for the Boston Market email club. You can print your coupon here as well. There must have been at least 25 other people who came in within the 1/2 hour we were there with this coupon as well. What a bargain and the food was VERY Tasty. We were impressed with the quality and portion size....Enjoy!

T.G.I. Fridays:

T.G.I. Friday's will host America's Largest Halloween Party on Thursday, 10/29 from 9pm-close at nearly 600 participating restaurants. They will offer penny appetizers with the purchase of a beverage in the bar only after 9 p.m. by any guest in costume.

If you are in the Give Me More Stripes program(which you all should be by now) you get an even better treat: a coupon via email good for penny appetizers with the purchase of a beverage in the bar after 4pm from now until Halloween.

There usually are tons of great deals and once I get more details on others I will let you all know.

Stock up on CANDY

Less than a Week til Halloween. We still need to carve our pumpkin- hopefully my husband will take care of it early this week. I have been looking for great pumpkin patterns. There are so many to choose from. I'll let you all know what I decide.

Thursday's Wedding Tip #20

I am so happy it is Thursday already and I have some family coming in town this weekend =)

And now for your wedding tip of the day. Wedding tip #20 is all about tipping etiquette. Who do you tip and how much? This is a really tough question as depending on where you have your wedding it makes all the difference.

Traditional wedding custom is to tip a wedding supplier if you think that they did a great job or provided you with outstanding service. Tipping should be based on the quality of service provided in the months leading up to your wedding as well as the day of. If you get married at a Country Club (which I did), where they give you a "free" bridal consultant/ day of help, then you would base your tip on all that they helped you plan. By tipping them you are letting them know that you are happy with the service they provided you with prior to and/or on your wedding day.

Wedding tips are commonly overlooked when couples set up their wedding budget. Tipping is an additional cost which you should calculate before hand so that you ensure that you have money allocated. You are not obligated to tip extra, as most vendors already include a certain percentage. Look in your contacts for terms such as "service fee", as this is usually where they add a little extra. My florist had a 15% service fee aka TIP. I still gave her a small tip at the end of the night since she did an AMAZING job, but I didn't feel obligated.

The best tip you could provide your vendors is a recommendation of them to others. I also sent all my vendors PERSONAL Thank You's with Pictures!

My Shopping Day in Photos

First stop @ CVS: Here is what I got:
-Glade Reed Diffuser $6.99- $3 coupon from 10/4 SmartSource, got back $6.99 in ExtraCare Bucks

-3 Advil, $4.50 each and used $ 2 coupons off each. If you spend $20, you get back $10 ECB's (I need to stop at another CVS later in the week to get my $20 total- I got the last 3 boxes).

-2 Progresso Soups, BOGO $3.29. Used 2 $1 off coupons

-2 Neosporin lip products $5.49 each. There is a $2.50 clip free coupon this month when you use your CVS card. This took off $5.00. I used a $3 off coupon as well as a BOGO FREE coupon from the Publix BIG FALL Saving coupon book. The coupon is in the Publix ad, but it is a manufacturer coupon. The coupon expires 10/25/09.

My next stop was @ Walgreens- I had to do 2 separate transactions for the Gillette Fusion MVP Register Rewards Deal.

First transaction:
-1 Gillette Fusion MVP Razor $8.99- $4 coupon from 9/27 P&G, then got $6 back in RR
-Chapstick $2.99, then got back $3 RR
-Airwick was on sale 50% off= $3.99 after 50% off- $4 AirWick coupon


Second transaction:

My Target trip- Skippy Peanut Butter and another Air Wick. The Skippy PB was on sale for $2.09. I used a $1 off Target coupon as well as a $0.40 manufacturer coupon. The Air Wick was on sale for $5.99. I happen to still have a $6 off 1 coupon from a few weeks back that was set to expire next weekend. The Cashier was VERY Impressed since I spent under $1!

And now for my pumpkin. I found this Pumpkin for $4.99 at BJ's. The cheapest I have seen for this size was $6.99 at Publix. And I have my FREE 4-in-1 Carving tool from my last CVS trip. I am almost ready for Halloween. Now, I need to find more Candy deals. My hunt is on. Enjoy!

At the beginning of the year, every time I filled my car up at 7-11, I got a FREE Drink. There used to be a sticker at the pumps that said to bring in your receipt and get a free 12 oz. Drink. They took the sticker off about 2 months. Now, I have a reason to head back to 7-11.

All you need to do is print this coupon and bring it into your participating 7-11 store and get a FREE 12 oz. hot beverage. You can choose from: coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate or tea.

Coupon expires 10/31/09 and it says one per person per day!!

Thursday's Wedding Tip #18

Happy Thursday and Wedding Tip Day.

Wedding Tip# 18- Make sure you look like yourself on your Big Day. Don't wear your hair all pulled back if you never wear your hair up. You don't want to look back at your pictures and not even recognize yourself. I know a bride who wore bright RED Lipstick, and she never wears lipstick, but she thought it would look great on her wedding day. WRONG- She didn't even look like herself and people were wondering if she was the bride. A more neutral lipstick with a nice shiny gloss would have been better. I would recommend you do a trail run for your hair and makeup.
